Meandering with Mike K in Tacony
Time to start up the meanders again.
Weather should be sunny and 62 degrees.
Lets meet at Larndner’s Point at the foot of Leverick St. There is free parking here and at the end of Devereaux St.
It’s Earth Day and the DRCC and other organizations will be having an event here dedicating an extended river trail and fun events for kids.
The trail is nice and views of river and bridge outstanding. In honor of Earth Day this would be a good time to explore nature photography. If the group is up for it I suggest we hop in one or two cars and ride over to Palmyra Cove Nature Park. Its free and quite extensive with frog ponds, egrets, birding stations, lagoons etc. http://www.palmyracove.org/
A good time to bring a long lens. There is a nature center building with exhibits.
Alternatively there is a linear park just north along Keystone St and then we could go to explore the Tacony Historic District. This was the neighborhood the Henry Disston developed for his workers. Housing, culture and recreation. The main street was Longshore Ave. Between there and Princeton Ave for several blocks are tons of historic houses and buildings.
So come on out for a beautiful spring day and get your nature fix (and blossom shots). See you there!
$10 paid at event start.
